YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES AS CONSTRUCTION SAFETY OFFICER:
•    Develop and implement safety programs/policies for construction projects.
•    Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
•    Collaborate across departments to promote proactive safety/risk management.
•    Provide guidance and support to project teams in the development of Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) and Safe Work Procedures (SWPs).
•    Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses; develop and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
•    Stay informed about industry regulations and best practices, ensuring company compliance and continuous improvement in safety protocols.
•    Facilitate safe work training programs for employees and subcontractors.
•    Maintain documentation and records related to safety activities, including incident reports, inspections, and training records.
•    Act as a liaison with regulatory authorities to address safety-related matters and participate in relevant industry forums or associations.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR IN A CONSTRUCTION SAFETY OFFICER:
•    3+ years in a similar role within heavy construction
•    COR certification is mandatory; demonstrated knowledge of construction safety regulations and industry best practices
•    Strong interpersonal skills to effectively engage with employees of all levels
•    Ability to confidently lead safety training programs
•    Solid computer skills; proficiency with spreadsheet software
•    Excellent problem-solving skills; a proactive approach to risk management
•    Familiarity with incident investigation techniques and root cause analysis
•    Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
•    Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to construction sites
