YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES AS PURCHASER:
* Vendor Management: Identify, evaluate, and manage relationships with vendors and suppliers; negotiate terms, pricing, and contracts to secure favorable agreements; monitor vendor performance, and address issues.
* Buying Contracts & Strategies: Develop and implement effective buying strategies aligned with business objectives; establish and manage buying contracts to ensure compliance and maximize value; continuously assess market conditions and industry trends to adapt strategies accordingly.
* Sourcing & Procurement: Source materials, components, and equipment required for manufacturing processes; coordinate across departments to understand material needs and ensure timely procurement; conduct market research to identify new suppliers and materials for competitive positioning.
* Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs): Create and implement SOPs for the purchasing process, ensuring consistency and efficiency; educate relevant stakeholders on SOPs to maintain adherence across organization; review and optimize SOPs to enhance effectiveness and streamline operations.
* Category Management: Manage material categories, identify cost-saving opportunities, mitigate risks, and collaborate cross-functionally to align strategies with business objectives.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR IN A PURCHASER:
* Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain management, or relevant field
* 3-5+ years in procurement/purchasing roles in a manufacturing setting
* Strong negotiation skills; a track record of successful vendor management
* Proficiency in procurement software and MS Office; experience with ERP/MRP systems is an asset
* Analytical mindset; can interpret data to make strategic decisions
* Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
