What you will do

  • Schedule and perform microbiological testing and analysis on raw material and finished pea products as per the quality control plan
  • Ensure proper chain of custody for all materials and samples in accordance with laboratory procedures
  • Communicate out of specification (OOS) issues to the Laboratory Manager for immediate corrective and preventative action
  • Confirm laboratory testing is done for the positive release program and generate certificate of analysis using SAP / LIMS
  • Monitor laboratory equipment and ensure required calibration and preventative maintenance work is completed
  • Follow Roquette’s safety standards and monitors for pathogen and non-pathogen testing
  • Assist Laboratory Manager in developing a stability testing program
  • Maintain the laboratory manual and follow approved methodology
  • Ensure plant water and air quality meet Health Canada standards
  • Develop new methods to support continuous improvement
  • Participate in quality audits and certification (e.g., ISO 9001, FSSC 22000)
  • Maintain confidentiality in all matters pertaining to plant operations

Qualifications and Experience

  • Post-secondary degree in microbiology or a related science field
  • 3 to 5 years of experience working in a regulated microbiology lab
  • Proven understanding of laboratory best practices and testing techniques
  • Experience in the identification of food and environmental microorganisms
  • Experience with light microscopy and proficiency with microbiological lab equipment
  • Ability to investigate and report on out of specifications (OOS) results
  • Demonstrated ability to work with cross-functional teams to deliver process improvements
  • Proven ability to organize multiple tasks and details in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Knowledge of ISO standards related to microbiological testing would be an asset
