MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER / PROJECT LEADER

We are seeking a talented Design Engineer with a passion for creating innovative solutions in the plastics industry. This role focuses on developing plastic products, optimizing them for manufacturability, and leading projects from concept to production. You will play a critical role in transforming ideas into functional, cost-effective designs while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES AS A MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER:
*Design & Development: Create detailed designs for plastic components and assemblies using CAD software. Ensure designs meet customer specifications and are optimized for manufacturing and automation. 
*Material Selection: Research appropriate materials, focusing on polymers and thermoplastics, to meet application requirements. 
*Prototype & Testing: Develop prototypes, conduct testing, and refine designs to ensure functionality and performance. 
*Tooling Coordination: Develop RFQ’s for tooling, coordinate mold manufacturing and review designs to ensure specifications are met. 
*Project Leadership: Manage project schedules, budgets and communication with stakeholders. Oversee tool builds, mold trials and final product approvals. 
*Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with internal teams, customers, vendors, and suppliers to facilitate successful product launches. 
*Process Improvement: Assist in developing product processes, assembly techniques, and packaging requirements. 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR IN A MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER:
*Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent. 
*5+ years of experience in mechanical design engineering or project management. 
*Proficiency in CAD software (PTC Creo or Pro/ENGINEER preferred). 
*A portfolio of successful design projects. 
*Excellent problem-solving, organizational and communication skills.
