CHIEF POWER ENGINEER (Winnipeg, Manitoba)
Are you a 2nd class Power Engineer looking for a hands-on leadership opportunity? This established Manitoba company is looking for a highly trained professional, ideally with experience in a food production environment. As Chief Power Engineer you will oversee the operation and maintenance of power plant equipment, troubleshooting issues to ensure both operational efficiency and compliance with government regulations and industry standards.

* Supervise start up, shut down, and operation of powerhouse equipment, including control switch operations, and water level and transmission load regulation
* Monitor and inspect power plant equipment to ensure maximum efficiency
* Supervise preventative and routine maintenance programs on all power plant equipment (e.g. clean and lubricate generators, turbines, pumps, and compressors)
* Analyze, record, and report on instrument readings and equipment malfunctions, maintaining complete and accurate records
* Troubleshoot and perform corrective action and minor repairs to equipment and systems
* Maintain facility HVAC, water treatment, sewage disposal and fire suppression systems
* Ensure a safe work environment via visual inspections

* 2nd class Power Engineer designation
* 3+ years of experience in a 2nd class power plant operation, including strong knowledge of maintenance regulations
* Proven leadership skills and trades management techniques, including experience with continuous improvement projects
* Strong welding skills
* Ability to follow associated WHMIS, HACCP, and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) requirements, specifically related to handling of ammonia
* Ability to read hydraulic and pneumatic schematics and diagrams
* Proven ability to maintain accurate records
* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
* Availability for shift work
* Experience in a manufacturing environment, specifically a food production facility, would be an asset
